About Shem Creek
I LOVE Shem Creek. It is one of my favorite all time places to be!

Small and Unique Neighborhood
While driving over the Shem Creek bridge towards downtown Charleston you are sure to notice the docks on the right. These docks are in Millwood, a small and unique neighborhood with just sixteen homes. Turn right onto Pelzer and you will find yourself on the tree lined street where some of the homes were built in the 60's and 70's. Don't blink, because once you cross the first intersection (and you are still on Pelzer) it turns into Cooper Estates. See the visual below. The yellow numbers mark Millwood homes. There are 7 homes that are on Shem Creek & 9 that are directly across the street. Pelzer Drive, within Millwood, is a gorgeous Old Mount Pleasant Street with tons of character, no HOA dues, no amenities- but of course you can join one of the Yacht Clubs at the south end of Mt Pleasant.

Area Amenities
Walking to Shrimp Boat Lane is a quick stroll- you have it all there: casual dining, fine dining and great spots for happy hour. Cross Shem Creek bridge to find the really unique Common Shopping Center with the fabulous little toy store Hollipops and the children's store Ragamuffins.
Shem Creek Real Estate - Millwood
This home was the only one in 2017 that came on the market and the first to come available in 4 years. (it is shown as #10 above). The reason this beautiful home with views of Shem Creek sold in the 7s, is that the home behind (showing above as #12) had rights to the land behind 10 and there was a dirt road that ran from Pelzer to the back of his house. This is not your everyday situation, but boy what a great find with amazing access to all Shem Creek has to offer and majestic views that just makes it all worth it!
Can you believe that there is a vacant lot on Shem Creek (lot 1) that sold in 2005 for $150,000?! Wow that was an amazing investment! Vacant land on navigable water within walking distance to shops and restaurants - and so close to downtown, great find!
Stay tuned for more Shem Creek Neighborhoods!
